Full of Fights: 10 Movies Like Crows Zero

When talking about a Japanese movie with student brawls as its main theme, you will immediately think of Crows Zero. The movie, starring Shun Oguri, is indeed a legend and is definitely remembered by many movie lovers.

In addition to Crows Zero and its sequels, there are also many similar films that tell the story of fights between gangs. Of course, these films are no less exciting than the story of Takiya Genji and his friends.

High & Low was originally released as a series entitled High & Low: The Story of S.W.O.R.D. The story of this movie begins with the emergence of a gang called Mugen. Mugen was a very strong gang but finally disbanded due to tragedy. Kohaku (Akira) who led Mugen just disappeared.

In the same area, five major gangs emerged: Sannoh Rengokai, White Rascals, Oya Kohkoh, Rude Boys, and Daruma Ikka. The five were later abbreviated as S.W.O.R.D.

Although sometimes at odds, these five gangs tried to protect their respective areas without interfering with each other.

However, other groups emerged who wanted to overthrow S.W.O.R.D and take control of their territory. Not only that, Kohaku, the leader of Mugen who had disappeared, finally reappeared and got involved in the battle between these gangs.

Shinjuku Swan is set in Kabukicho, an entertainment center in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The story centers on Tatsuhiko Shiratori (Gou Ayano), a young man who comes to Tokyo with no job and no money.

Tatsuhiko, who has been dealing with thugs, eventually meets Matora (Yusuke Iseya). Matora wants to help Tatsuhiko and offers him a job.

Tatsuhiko was apparently given a job looking for prostitutes. Tatsuhiko himself is actually the type of man who really respects women, so he is very careful with his work.

Conflicts begin to arise when he gets involved in a territorial struggle with the Harem group. Things get more complicated when he has to deal with Hideyoshi Minami (Takayuki Yamada), a sneaky Harem member.

In addition, Tatsuhiko wants to save a woman entertainer named Ageha (Erika Sawajiri) who feels pressured by Hideyoshi.

This movie tells the story of a boy named Shinanogawa Hiroshi (Hiroki Narimiya) who lives in the 1980s. Inspired by the manga Be-Bop High School, Shinanogawa decides to become a punk and change schools.

Shinanogawa has an eccentric appearance. His cropped hair is dyed bright red, attracting the attention of Iguchi Tatsuya (Hiro Mizushima), the school gang leader.

This is where the conflict begins, and Shinanogawa ends up joining a gang of bad kids. However, he learns the meaning of friendship here.

4. Bad Boys J The Movie

This 2013 film tells the story of three gangs named Gokurakucho, Beast, and Nights who reside in Hiroshima. When Keita (Daiki Shigeoka), the former leader of Gokurakucho, is released from prison, conflicts begin to arise.

At the same time, a new group called Eden has ambitions to become the number 1 gang, and Keita joins the gang. Keita himself had met his good friend, Yoji (Hikaru Iwamoto), who was still a member of Gakurakucho.

Since that meeting, Yoji suddenly left the gang. Yoji, who feels indebted to Keita, finally enters Eden after being invited by his good friend. Eden is getting more and more indiscriminate and the battle between gangs is inevitable.

5. Waruboro

This movie is based on Gettsu Itaya's 2007 autobiographical novel Waruboro. The story is about a boy named Koichi (Shota Matsuda).

Initially, Koichi was an excellent student, did not do much, and always studied in the same manner as his classmates. However, an incident utterly transformed Koichi.

Since then he's been getting into trouble, getting into fights, and really being a bad boy. However, Koichi has a soft side when it comes to love. This young man apparently likes Yamada (Yui Aragaki), a beautiful girl who is also in the same class as him.

6. Blue Spring

Blue Spring tells the story of a group of boys at Asashi High School. The school is almost neglected, the students don't even care about the future and are indifferent to life.

Kujo (Ryuhei Matsuda) and a few other boys join a gang whose leader is determined by a deadly game on the school roof. Kujo manages to win the game and is appointed as the gang leader.

Aoki (Hitofumi Arai), who is Kujo's best friend, is very happy. He also hopes that Kujo can dominate the school with his leadership.

But Kujo himself doesn't seem that interested in being a gang leader. He actually joined the game on the school roof just to kill time. This immediately makes Aoki upset and challenges Kujo. From this point on, various conflicts begin to occur and their friendship is tested.

Akira No.2 is based on the manga of the same name by mangaka Hiromasa Okushima that was published in 2012. As per the title, the movie tells the story of a male high school student named Akira (Ryota Ozawa).

In his school, Akira is the second strongest person and he wants to be the first. To achieve his goal, Akira is obsessed with defeating the number 1 strongest person in the school who is none other than Tsutomu (Yasuhiro Kido).

Conflict is inevitable, and Akira's struggle is difficult. He must compete against a number of rivals who are also competing for the title of the school's finest individual.

8. Demekin

This film centers on the character Masaki Sata (Kentaro Ito) who since childhood has always been teased as a demekin (popeyed goldfish). Growing up, Masaki doesn't want to stay silent and starts to fight back. He was transformed into a young man who was tough and invincible when it came to fighting.

Masaki with his trademark red hair has a best friend named Atsunari (Yuki Yamada). They often spend time riding motorcycles and getting into fights.

But upon entering secondary school, the two took separate life paths. Masaki Sata continued his studies, while Atsunari worked at a ramen restaurant. Until one day, Atsunari had an idea and invited Masaki to form a motorcycle gang.

9. From Today, It's My Turn!!!

Set in the 1980s, this movie tells the story of Takashi Mitsuhashi (Kento Kaku), a male student who has just transferred to a high school. Takashi, who has a striking appearance with his blonde hair, immediately becomes a target of violence for the thugs from other schools.

Takashi himself is good friends with Shinji Ito (Kentaro Ito), who is also a new student. Both are often involved in fights, but they have a soft side when dealing with girls they like.

10. Battle Royale

In this movie, Japan is told to be in chaotic conditions so that the government passed BR ACT, a rule to reduce the number of teenage crimes. In accordance with existing regulations, there will be 1 school class taken to a remote island and they must kill each other until only 1 person survives.

The story of Battle Royale centers on the character Shuya Nanahara (Tatsuya Fujiwara) who has a myriad of personal problems. One day, he and his classmates went on a field trip. However, they are knocked unconscious on the way and then taken to a remote island.

Shuya's class is apparently chosen to participate in the annual Battle Royale event. This is where all the brutality happens. Each student tries to save themselves by killing each other.
